FEATURED EVENT

Attend the CEC's 2010 Momentum Awards Dinner on September 23
Register Today for the Entrepreneurial Event of the Year

Volume 7, Issue 5 Entrepreneurship is at the heart of a healthy economy. As we all work to recover from the recent recession, the efforts of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC) take on even greater significance.

Founded in 1999, the CEC is a nonprofit entrepreneurial development organization that identifies the state’s most promising entrepreneurs and helps them build viable, sustainable, and profitable enterprises. We do this by providing entrepreneurs with high caliber financing, sales and mentoring services. From 2003-2009, the CEC helped our client entrepreneurs secure $229 million in revenue, access $130.5 million in capital, and create or retain nearly 6,000 jobs. Supporting this year's Momentum Awards Dinner will ensure that we can continue to offer these services to entrepreneurs.

On September 23, the CEC will host the third annual Momentum Awards Dinner at the Fairmont Chicago. Last year’s dinner brought together over 700 of Chicago’s business and civic leaders with the city’s fastest growing entrepreneurs. It was an electric night that proved to be one of the best networking opportunities of the year.

During this year's dinner, the 2010 Merrick Momentum Award winner will be announced. The award honors entrepreneurs on the long road between successful start-up and well established enterprise, and recognizes the entrepreneurial stars from all industry segments that have demonstrated momentum since their inception and are poised for continued growth. Finalists for the award are Callpod, Cleversafe, and Sittercity.com.

We will also honor our 2010 Entrepreneurial Champion, Rich Melman, Founder and Chairman of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, a Chicago-based corporation that owns over 80 restaurants nationwide.

In the current economic environment, it is more important than ever to foster entrepreneurship in Chicago. We hope you will help to support the CEC’s mission by attending this year’s event.
